pup1 Welcome to Deep Run Farm Puppies. We usually have superb field-pedigreed puppies available bailey

"Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about puppies." -- Gene Hill

Our Labrador puppies are bred to give you the best possible Labrador pup that money can buy. If you want a hunt or field test dog, hunter/companion dog, obedience, agility, search and rescue dog, that can be your special friend and companion, a Deep Run puppy will be just right for you.

Read our commentary about responsible breeding

Our puppies are bred to provide you with a pup free of genetic defects, pleasing in appearance, and intelligent with a good attitude for learning. To the best of our knowledge, our breeding stock is free of common hereditary defects such as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, central retinal atrophy, cataracts, and thyroid disease as well as Exercise Induced Collapse, Centronuclear Myopathy, Retinal Dysplasia and Oculoskeletal Dysplasia.

When genetic tests are available for hereditary diseases, we usually have our dogs tested by an approved laboratory.

DDC Veterinary: DNA Services for Animals- Offers DNA tests for canine and equine species. Services include parentage, DNA genotyping, DNA banking, disease screening, and coat color prediction.

We now know that some of these diseases, previously perceived as hereditary, are influenced more by rearing, feeding, and neutering programs (See article Study Shines Spotlight On Neutering) than previously thought. Also a Great Health Article. We use the most current guidelines for nutrition and environment to give our pups the best possible start. We provide you with essential information on nutrition, body scoring and health care so you can take over when you get your puppy to provide an optimum environment.

We have been breeding Labradors for twenty years at this location, over 40 years in all and have faith in our breeding program, because it is backed by experience, education, and application.

"May we always have a young one full of promise to admit us to those places of wonderment only permissible while in the company of a Labrador" - Gene Hill from the epilogue of Richard's History of the Labrador.

pancho
Pancho
(click for large picture)
Pancho is one of our most exciting young American Field dogs. He completed his Master title with a minimum number of trials and has been a consistent qualifier at the Master level since.
Pancho, is a talented, intelligent and friendly dog with a wonderful disposition. He is calm and easily manageable in the house and while training, but a stylish and biddable performer in the field. He is currently working on his Upland titles, needs one more pass for Senior Hunter Upland, and will be moving on to Master in the Fall.
Pancho got his name when we were eating out in a Mexican restaurant one evening. We loved his beautiful dark gold color, just like his sire, Hombre. There was large sign on the wall "Follow me to Gold and Glory", Pancho Villa. He became Pancho on the spot. Pancho and his littermate Deep Run Gypsy Gold are the product of one of Hombre's very last litters. Hombre was bred to an Elvis daughter, Deep Run Tutti Frutti, SH to produce these two spectacular young dogs.
Pancho qualified in enough consecutive Master events in 2014 to earn his Master Hunter Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pancho is OFA Good, OFA ELbows, OFA Cardiac, OFA Patellas, EIC and CNM Clear by Parentage, 2012 CERF.
Here is a link to Pancho's OFA page.
