"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."
-- Groucho Marx
Our puppies are bred to provide you with a pup free of genetic defects, pleasing
in appearance, and intelligent with a good attitude for learning. To the best
of our knowledge, our breeding stock is free of common hereditary defects such
as hip and elbow dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, central retinal atrophy,
cataracts, and thyroid disease as well as the less known problems such as labrador
myopathy, muscular dystrophy, cardiomyopathy, and dwarfism. We have been breeding
Labradors for twenty years and have faith in our breeding program. That is
why we offer an unconditional guarantee that you will be completely pleased
with your puppy. We consider our pups to be permanent members of our family
and will continue to be responsible for them their entire life. All pups born
at Deep Run are welcome back at any time. "May we always have a young one full of promise to admit us to those places of wonderment only permissible while in the company of a Labrador" - Gene Hill from the epilogue of Richard's History of the Labrador.
Our Labrador puppies are bred to give you the best possible Labrador pup that
money can buy. If you want a hunt or field test dog, hunter/companion dog,
obedience, agility, search and rescue dog, that can be your special friend
and companion, a Deep Run puppy will be just right for you.

All-yellow American Type Litter Due June 5, 2008

Rocky, Jack's handsome young Elvis son, has proved himself in Field Trials, Hunt and Field Tests, and most importantly, in the rivers and fields of Maryland and Virginia as a hunting companion extraordinaire.
He proudly placed as a finisher in the Maryland State Gun Dog Championship in December of 2006, one of six finalists.
His favorite pastime is Sea Duck Hunting in the Potomac, where he boldly leaps out of the boat into the icy river to swim out and recover eiders and scoters. His ability to locate downed birds, both dead and cripples, at great distances in the face of high winds and big waves is truly amazing.
Rocky is also a terrific Goose dog, waiting patiently next to the layout blind until all the shots have been taken, then goes and collects the downed birds. Both Rocky and Jack were disappointed with the poor hunting this past winter, but look forward to the spring and summer to train and test in readiness for next season. Rocky is a Field bred yellow Labrador Retriever, OFA Excellent, OFA Elbows, CERF, CNM Clear. |

Deep Run Marigold, SH is one of the most exciting young females we have had the opportunity to own, train and compete in many years. Margie is an excellent marking dog, terrifically speedy, and has great memory for multiple marks. She handles beautifully, like her sire, GMHRCH Deep Run Desperado, MH, and shows tremendous promise. She is a quiet and loving dog to be around, and a terrific friend and companion. She has her Junior and Senior AKC Hunt Test Titles and legs on both Intermediate and Senior NAHRA titles. We look forward to completing her Working Retriever and Master Hunting Retriever titles this year, as well as running in AKC Master. Her OFA results are pending (both parents were OFA Excellent, OFA Elbows) and 2006 CERF. Margie is a Field bred yellow Labrador Retriever. See more pictures of Margie: Margie 1 Margie 2 Margie 3 |
| This litter will produce high energy, high quality hunting or Hunt Test dogs. They will all be "American Style" field dogs, bred for intelligence, athletic ability and hunting desire. An excellent choice for the serious Hunter expecting a great working dog who can also be a family companion. Both Rocky and Margie are also very tractable, personable dogs with a strong desire to please and are fun to train. All Deep Run puppies are born in our house and well socialized from day 1. They are handled many times each day, and accustomed to various noises and surfaces. All pups have dewclaws removed, are wormed and vaccinated with the best biologicals according to modern protocols. Pups are introduced to collar and leash, basic obedience commands, crates, and car rides. They see pigeons at 5 weeks of age and are individually worked with birds and dummies until they leave. Weather permitting, they will be swimming as well. All Deep Run puppies have a head start on their life as superior hunting dogs, competitors or companions. |

Madonna is a lovely all English female sired by BISS CH Borador's By George, the Number 1 Labrador in the US in 2001. "Gordy" has won several specialty shows since 2001, and is still a charming, playful dog who gives his superior temperament and good looks to his pups. Madonna's mother is a granddaughter of BISS CH Caer Bren Mr Pickwick, JH, a large and handsome dog with Specialty wins. She is a repeat breeding of CH Belquest Bahama Breeze and other top show labradors.
Madonna is sweet and playful, she loves to retrieve, and always has a ball or stuffed toy in her mouth. Like her dad, her tail wags constantly. We have bred Hero to other Gordy daughters, and have been thrilled with the results for attitude, temperament, and good looks. OFA GOOD(prelim), OFA Elbows (Prelim), OFA Cardiac, CERF 2007.
