Subj: Deep Run Belle, BN, RN, CGC

Happy Holidays from Belle (Pancho & Sally), she just turned 3 years old on 12/20/2015.
Just wanted to let you know Belle is doing. I started with a puppy obedience class and the teacher thought she had such a good attitude, enthusiasm and drive that I ought to continue with lessons and then compete in trials. Belle is the first dog I have ever tried to train for obedience and it has been harder work for me to learn about training and showing than it has been for Belle to learn her skills. She is very smart , learns quickly and is always happy and wags her tail non stop.
Belle had the RN title in 3 consecutive trials with two scores of 100 and one 90 (I messed up). She had the BN title in three consecutive trials, 193.5, 197.5 and 198. First place in all trials. We will be continuing with training next year, hope to start agility trials next year also. (Belle runs agility courses much better than I do). The judges always remark about what a good working dog she is.
Belle loves training and going to obedience and agility classes. She also loves hiking, swimming, retrieving and just sleeping in my lap on the sofa. Belle is a total joy to have in my life.

Best, Mary

Subj: Remy's 1st Duck Hunt

Hi Phyllis,
We hope this finds you progressing well with your knee surgery and that you'll be back training soon. It appears to Marguerette and I that Remy misses you and the training routine at Deep Run. He is doing well at home and adjusted quickly to some "spoiling" but works well on his basic drills.
The two of us went duck hunting last week in Arkansas - it was his first duck hunt as the one I had planned before Thanksgiving was cancelled due to my hunting partner coming down with bronchitis.
Remy loved riding in the boat while we were scouting the day before the season re-opened, although, he was full of energy and I had him on a lead to keep him settled somewhat. A lot of this was probably the new experience, over the next several days he was much calmer in the boat. He retrieved all of the ducks that three of us shot with the exception of several that went down in very thick, heavily flooded timber that he couldn't mark as he was watching and marking others that were falling in front of him - the several I didn't send him on fell far behind us. His first retrieve was a large greenhead - unfortunately I had problems with my iPhone on Thursday morning and didn't get a photo of him. He made a very long retrieve of close to 175 yds. through a large decoy spread and into heavy grass to a wounded bird that was swimming. We had a group of four ducks come in and knocked all four down of which one fell deep in the thick timber behind us. Remy marked two of the birds and did successive retrieves and only required a little guidance on the location of the third duck. I believe you would have been proud of him.
The attached photo is on Friday morning when my iPhone was working. I did use a lead on him as you'll see and he has the training collar on. I didn't use the training collar on Thursday and he did some barking when we were calling ducks and shots weren't being fired and birds weren't falling. I believe that he's accustomed in his training to hearing the duck call, seeing a bird and a shot being fired, so I used the collar on Friday with some nicks and he got over the barking quickly. He was just impatient in wanting to work.
Excuse the long e-mail but wanted to share the experience with you.
Thanks so much for the quality work that you have done with Remy. I'm looking forward to the continued growth in his retrieving skills under your guidance.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Steve

Subject: Takoda is Three Years Old Today

Hi Phyllis,
Today is Takoda’s 3rd birthday! (Sam x Peaches December 5, 2012) I just wanted to drop you a note of thanks for breeding this sweet pup that has brought so much joy into me and my family’s life. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him. One of his favorite things to do is roll over on his back and lay there while you rub his chest. He will lay there for hours but usually our hands get tired before that!
Takoda is offically the most spoiled dog I’ve ever owned! Those new couches I just bought last year have a spot for him, LOL! While I'm at work he spends his days with my Dad keeping him company and they are the best of buddies.
I am thinking about adding another puppy to the family within the next two years so you will be hearing from me again soon! Here are a few pictures from our trip this summer to the Eastern Sierras. Hard to believe that goofy roly poly puppy grew into such a magnificent mature Labrador.

With Love,
Debbie & Deep Run Traveling Takoda

Hi Phyllis and Team,

Although we have only had Rosie for a couple of weeks now (Siskel & Glow litter born on 9-18-15), she has quickly become a member of our family. She is growing like a weed, enjoys her walks, and has found the chipmunk holes in our backyard! Attached are a couple of pics Rosie in her new home.
She is great,

Subj: Remy Photos - BBKIRC Ribbons

Hi Phyllis,

I sent you some photos from the hunt test last Sunday that you may be able to use some of for the BBKIRC website. Most were of Remy so not a lot of variety.
Also, I've attached a few photos of him with his ribbons which you may be able to use one in the Kudos section of your website if you think it's appropriate.
He's doing good with the basic drills that you showed us. We very much appreciate the time you spent with us and the coaching to handle him in the events last Sunday. He did well in spite of his handler (me!).
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Best regards,
Steve & Marguerette

To: Phyllis Giroux

Dear Kristi, Phillis, and Jack,
We wanted to let you know that we love having Phoebe (Pancho and Rain litter, Dec 2014) in our family! She is very sweet, smart, affectionate, and eager to please. She was voted valedictorian in her puppy class ;-), and is doing well in obedience classes. We had several gatherings in June and July and our friends were amazed at how well behaved she was, and at how much she had learned at an early age. I may enter her in Rally novice in January. We are also trying agility for fun and she seems to enjoy that so we hope that is in our future as well.

She is beautiful, and we get many compliments on her. Attached are several photos. At 8 months she was 60 pounds and has stayed about that weight, which is fine with us! Thank you for picking out the perfect pup for us!

Phyllis and Jack,

I hope all is well at Deep Run. I just thought I would give you an update on Maverick. He is absolutely the perfect dog for us…the sweetest dog at home, and a solid gundog in the field.
My daughter in law works for a photography studio in Houston. They needed some dog pictures to advertise on their website, so she volunteered Maverick. I have only seen one of the pictures (attached) but it is a great shot of him. His first modeling gig. 4 days later, we are in a uncut rice field for the opener of teal season here in Texas. We didn’t lose a bird all weekend! He was really awesome. Truly an "all- purpose dog" ! Thanks again for such an awesome pup!

One of the photos is Blue visiting his friend that had a stroke. He has been to puppy school and the next level and does great. I don't know how he is so good at the nursing home. He has learned a lot in school but he still has a way to go. Blue sleeps beside people never jumps he sits when someone wants to pet him he has brought a lot of smiles to his friends. He has a sweet personality. We have a wonderful time with him. He is very special.

Hi Deep Run,

Jenn and I were saying the other day that it has been almost 2 years since you called to say you received our application for a pup and that you had some upcoming litters. We picked up our sweet Honey in March 2014. As you can see, she has grown to become an exceptional dog: happy, attentive, energetic, and loyal. She follows me every where I go. She has visited the beach house, the mountain cabin, and the farm. She is very athletic and has hiked several mountains in Pisguah. Just wanted to up date you about what a great girl she is. If any of the owners of Honey's siblings are interested in swapping photos and stories, please give them my email.

Hi Deep Run
We adopted a puppy from Siskel x Glow liter of February 25th. We couldn't be happier with our puppy. He is loving, gentle, playful, energetic, well behaved. We couldn't have picked a better puppy ourselves. I can't tell you how many times we say wow that breeder picked the perfect dog for us.
We named him Tucker. Tucker and our 5 year old Sam are the best of friends. Our favorite times are playing fetch with either a stick or a red rubber freebie, going on long walks and meeting neighbors. Tucker and Sam love to lay together, Tucker will put his head next to Sam's arms hoping for some rubs and snuggles.
Thank you for picking the right puppy for us. We couldn't be happier. Attaching a picture of Sam and Tucker.

Thank you
Dawn, Dave, Sam and of course Tucker

Hi Deep Run!

It's hard to believe that a year has flown by with our sweet Maddie (Casey/Gypsy). She has so much personality and is adored by all of us. She loves to: take walks, retrieve her toys, swim in the pool, chase bugs, shred toilet paper rolls, take rides in the car, do tricks for treats and snuggle on our bed. She has been the best addition to our family and we couldn't imagine our lives without her. We get compliments all the time on her good looks (especially her white coat) and her sweet personality.

Thanks for such an amazing puppy, we love her so much!

Hi Phyllis & Kristi,
We wanted to let you know that Finnley is doing great. He slept for most of the plane ride to Boston and adjusted very quickly to his new home. Thank you so much for everything that you did with him the past nine weeks. Especially his crate training! He sleeps through most of the night in his crate next to our bed and likes to take an occasional nap in his crate in our family room. Our two boys, Camden & Braden, are doing a fantastic job helping to care for Finnley. He loves taking walks on his leash around our yard as well as on some of the trails in the woods around our house. He also had a ton of fun the other day playing in the water in the kiddy pool. We introduced Finn to our older Lab, Smokey, through a progression of steps and the two of them get along very well. It's fun to watch them together.

We are following all of your recommendations and great advice. Glycoflex, Missing-Link, a bit of yogurt with breakfast and just like Smokey, Finn likes to snack on an occasional carrot. He started his series of appointments with our VET the day after we got back and has been added to our Pet Insurance policy. Thanks to all of your hard work, everything is off to an absolutely wonderful start. Here is a picture I took today of Finn with one of his favorite toys.

All Our Best,
Rob, Gina, Camden, Braden, Smokey & Finnley

Subj: Thank you and kudos yet again!

Deep Run you have done it again!!! Murphy (born April 8th from the Cassie/Rugby litter) has settled in quite well with us. We were initially a bit concerned bringing a new puppy into the mix with our Nelly (also a Deep Run pup from the November 2, 2006 Hannah/Spencer litter), especially with the age difference. But our concern was unfounded. Four weeks in and they are fast friends. Nelly more often than not seeks out Murphy to play! Amazing. Murphy has brought back Nelly's puppy attitude. Murphy was not too excited about his crate on the first night, but from day 2 on, he has been an amazing pup just like his big sis. And smart too. He already walks nicely on the leash, knows sit, down and off. Housetraining him has been easy.
Again, thank you for another fantastic Deep Run Pup.
Satisfied customers once again!

Hello Phyllis! Here's another Sara update, this time with pics! She continues to amaze everyone with her drive and enthusiasm, she LOVES agility! She still whines at the start line, just can't wait to get going. Her weave poles are absolutely amazing, she hits her entry from any angle and FLIES through them, putting Border Collies to shame. Since she is so very fast (she has actually run courses at over 6 yards per second, now that is fast!!) I have had to work on handling at a distance, she is often 10-15ft away from me when I send her to the next obstacle. Seeing her hit that weave pole entry from 15ft away always bring gasps from the crowd. She is so fun to compete with, as I mentioned before, she has that off switch like Pancho, seeing her in her crate or x-pen at a trial you can't even believe it's the same dog when you see her running a course. Even with limited trialing, she is now at Level 4 & 5 in CPE, she could earn her C-ATCH as early as this fall. Since she loves to work so much, I have now started Flyball classes with her. After only three classes she has already learned the "swimmers' turn" and of course the jumps were a piece of cake with her agility experience, my instructor says she can't wait to have her on a team, she will certainly bring some "flash" to the lanes at tournaments. I hope to be competing with her within the year. Once again, that perfect combination of drive, trainability and that wonderful "off switch" make her such a joy to train and compete with. She is such a happy dog, she bounds into any training class with such sheer happiness and excitement, everyone smiles and says "Sara's here!".

I can never thank you enough for all you do, not just breeding such amazing pups, but the incredible head start you give them before we begin our life with them. That is the difference between a good dog and an amazing partner. I will keep you posted on our success and FUN!

Sincerely,

Phyllis
The puppy we picked up yesterday (we named her Dixie) is fabulous! She’s smart, energetic, and listens well for her age. In one day she is already going up the stairs from the garage into the house. Even while she is still trying to figure out where she is she is behaving great and has no fear.
I put her in bed with me last night and she slept through the night without any disturbance. That never happened before! Her and Cody also hit it off right from the start, which I was concerned about because in the past, Cody didn’t take well to other dogs harassing her. Now I guess it’s payback time for what she put Casey through. In 5 minutes they were playing together. Cody is actually looking out for her and pays her frequent attention, checking her crate, and plays with her a lot, and doesn’t get rough. Cody is actually stepping up and looking after Dixie like Casey looked after Cody when we first brought her home.
She’s sleeping at my feet as I write this.
Thanks for another great pup!

Regards!
Bob

Hi Phyllis and Jack!
I just wanted to update you on Deep Run Trigger Happy and let you know how he is doing here at the An Apple A Day Orchard! Trigger is a puppy from the Pancho and Busy litter back in January of last year.
We have been thrilled with how Trigger is growing and behaving. He is adorable and loves to play and will even give you a hug when you rub his belly! He was able to hunt a bit this season, but we are still working on his training.
Overall we are so glad we got another lab from your farm, there is nowhere else we would rather go to get a family/hunting dog. Attached is a picture of Trigger at 7 months, enjoy!

Good morning deep run team,
I thought I would drop you an email as Goose is 1 year old today. He has grown into quite the handsome chap and we could not have asked for a better behaved dog.
I am also writing to you about his food, we have kept him on the same pro plan puppy food that you recommend and now he is a year old and around 65lbs I thought it was time to bump him up to an adult food but when I went into the pet store I was overwhelmed by pro plans choice and wondered if there was a food that you would recommend. He is very active and we walk for an hour a day with hunts at the week so he is getting plenty of exercise.
Any advice would be great, I'm sure you're busy with new litters and I look forward to hearing for you.
